Liam Lichocki joined the Boston Yacht Sales team as a summer sales intern this June. He is currently a student at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and a graduate from Northfield Mount Hermon School in Western Massachusetts.
On the side, Liam has created meticulous paintings of Sabre and Back Cove Yacht models for Boston Yacht Sales, which are currently on display in our main office in Weymouth MA.
“When I got into high school, I started to create commission work for other teachers and friends.” Liam says. “I started painting portraits of boats after a trip down to the Bahamas with our friends on their Fleming 65.” Generously, Liam gifted the yacht portrait as a thank-you gift and has continued to create portraits for boaters.
Rhonda Corey-Myers, our Director of Business Development, sat down with Liam for a chat about boating and art.
Liam’s boating began at a young age, taking fishing trips with his father on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire. He’s enjoyed boating and fishing trips from the Bahamas, to Northern Canada, and even a sailing trip on the coast of Turkey.
“Having never been to Turkey, I received an amazing introduction by sailing the coast on a gulet-style yacht named Serenity 86.” He continues, “We sailed to beautiful coastal cities like Bodrum and Ölüdeniz, arriving tucked away in a new cove every morning. Waking up in a place where we were the only boat, surrounded by scenic coastal landscaping, was extremely special. The color of the water was a crystal blue, unlike anywhere I had ever seen. We visited secluded beaches, hiked mountains on islands only accessible by tender, and explored the ruins of ancient cities like Ephesus. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” Liam explains that boating has allowed him to see the world from a unique perspective.
Now studying business and entrepreneurship, Liam continues drawing and painting. “I would love to continue doing commissioned artwork and art at a professional level because it allows me to make my dream of being a professional artist possible.”
As an intern, Liam has been busy in just the first few weeks he’s been here! Assisting in prepping boats for delivery, showings, and professional photo shoots, as well as taking photos himself to send to clients, to use in listings, and for social media. He is working on new artistic looks for our marketing visuals, organizing and refreshing materials for boat shows and events and more!
